One of the goals I have set for the USA Photo of the Day site is to have patriotic images, but without any partisan or party-oriented implications. My thought is that the Fence exists, it is an American landmark at least, and a symbol of our current status.

In many parts of the country the Border Patrol is given the same respect that is usually associated with our armed forces, and rightfully so. Just last week an agent was assassinated while on duty in an area near where I took this photo.

The fence does make a very interesting photographic subject, and I ran through quite a few images of it before selecting this one.

Whether a legitimate issue or not, the Fence is/was a partisan issue.  However, I expect that both sides of the issue would see that photo as evidence for their view.  So net political effect is nil, the opinion ball is not moved by the photo toward either goal.  No harm done.
