I just figured out that you can click on the flag buttons and change the forum colors and flag badge.  Nice!

Yes, that's one of the features I liked about this forum theme. You change up the colors based on various flags if you are so inclined.

When I first saw those icons my assumption was that they set the language for the spellchecker  Roll Eyes

Ok feature, but does not go far enuff, the background colors stay the same.

Kelly, aren't the background colors always white?

Err, that was my point.  So long as the menu bar colors get changed, why not change the backgrounds as well?  The basic HTML page background color defaults to white.  But any HTML editor can change that.  Though the basic HTML page colors are often low rez, thus a smaller color set to pick from than the True Color set.  It's also common practice to slap down a big graphic to simply cover over the plain page background.  That game introduces textures and color gradients.  Of course in this case the question is just what HTML properties those little icons can hook into.

Sorry, no.  If the control/setup software for the feature does not cover backgrounds, then it is probably more effort than it's worth.

Along the same lines, does this SMF package offer any other form of "themes"?

Yes, about 300 choices, but most of them are static, i.e. no changing colors by the user.

You can view the choices, alphabetically, here: =46]http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=search;version[]=46

These are kind of interesting -

http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=789

http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1248

http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1345

Note that the last one is "multi color".  But it's not clear whether the users get their pick of the color or everybody is stuck with Admin's pick.

OH DOH !!!
Go to Profile / Look and Layout and there are the user selectable themes.  I switched to "LiveMC" and it certainly does change the background colors.  So cool, and I feel so dumb ...
